THE END IS HERE!!!!

January 19, 2010 - WOW!!! Tomorrow begins 2 days of final testing for Hunter, with the “No Mo Chemo” party on Thursday at 2PM.
(Everyone is invited!!) It is so hard to believe that the end is here! What a trooper Hunter has been! I can’t imagine enduring all that he has over the past 3 years! The first thing he wants when we leave St. Jude after final chemo is a Route 44 sweet tea!!

Last week was huge for Hunter! The Granted Wish Foundation granted his wish to meet Jimmie Johnson #48 Nascar driver! What an awesome trip. Hunter, Kayla and I flew to CLT. We spent 2 nights in the Courtyard by Marriott. What nice people we met there! Andrew Polony from Granted Wish came in Tuesday afternoon…..wonderful person also! Wednesday morning we went to Hendrick Motor Sports and met Christy and Mary with the Jimmie Johnson Foundation!! Again….super nice people!!! While touring the 48/24 garages, we ran into Chad Knaus and Steve Letarte (Jimmie & Jeff’s crew chiefs) who talked with us for awhile. Then we went to the Lowes commerical shoot where Jimmie was. He spent so much time with Hunter. He was so kind and down to earth. HBO also filmed the meeting for their upcoming shows “Road to Daytona with Jimmie Johnson”…a behind the scenes look at getting ready for Daytona. It will begin airing 1/26/10 at 9P central and will air on for the next 4 weeks. What wonderful people that we have become friends with and made so many precious memories!

Then last Friday, Hunter had chemo at St Jude. It just happened to be the day for Country Cares. Hunter met Danny Gokey (3rd runner-from American Idol last year) and some other country stars also. Then he had a photo shoot with Lynard Skynyrd. Fun day!

He also had a big day on 12/29/09. Hunter was honorary police chief for the day in Brownsville. Many of you may have seen the story on Channel 5, Channel 7 or in the Jackson Sun or States Graphic. Thank you Chief Chris Lea for making this day possible. He had such a fun day.

Many of you have been with us since the beginning of this journey with cancer. Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. I will continue to update on here and keep you posted as to how Hunter is doing. Also, if you are on Facebook, Hunter, Kayla and I update daily on there, so please find us. We love you all!!

Phil. 4:13 has been my saving grace through all of this! We have learned that we can do “ALL things through Christ who has and continues to give us strength!”

December 18, 2010 - Well things are slowly getting better for Hunter.  His flu test this week was negative (YAY)!! No more isolation.  Counts are slowly rising….800 now.  But chemo made him extremely sick on Wednesday so he is out of school until the new year!  LOTS of make-up work for the holidays…3 weeks worth..pray for Mama…LOL!  He is feeling better now so hopefully that will carry over until Christmas.

Kayla played her last basketball game of the “year” last night!  She did excellent.  She had 14 points.

Well, I’m right in the middle of working 2 weeks with 168 hours!  Yes thats not a typo!!! Pray I survive! We really need the money and the opportunity was there so I took it.  I’m so thankful for my job.

Merry Christmas to all of you!  We love you and thank you for your continued prayers!

Back In the Hospital

Comments   2   Date Arrow  December 1, 2009 at 7:31pm   User  by mitzi

December 1, 2009 - Well, we are back in the hospital.  Hunter has had a fever since Saturday.  His counts were slowly dropping….but today they admitted him because they were getting to low and he was still running a fever!  We finally found out a few minutes ago what was causing it!!! Flu!!! Yuck!! Not swine flu though!! He feels really tough!  His fever was just 102.7.  They started Tamiflu 2x a day.

Tonight was homecoming for Kayla!  She looked beautiful!  A very precious friend, Jessica Yates, stayed with Hunter so I could go see Kayla in homecoming court! They also won their game!  Her coach sent me a text that said “tell Hunter we won the game for him!”  That was so sweet!

If you have a chance, drop Hunter a card.  The address is Hunter Bryant, St Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas, Memphis, TN 38105.

Please keep praying for my angel!

Good times!!!

November 20, 2009 - Hello again!!! Hunter has been feeling much better lately!! No kidney stone flare-ups…..but I look for that to start around 11/25…..if it’s anything like the past ones!!!

Kayla is having a great season in basketball so far!  In the first 5 games, she has scored over 90 points!!! Our local paper has had some great articles about her and the team!! She has also been nominated and is in the Homecoming Court!  We are so excited!  Her dress is sooooo cute!  Homecoming is 12/1, so if you’re not busy, come see her!

Hunter’s big church production is 12/2….then his voice show is 12/3 and 12/5…with his solo being on 12/5.  His solo is Winter Wonderland and he does a fantastic job of it!!!

I”ve been training at Southwest Tn Electric for dispatch.  I start Monday night at midnight and work all week.  Eventually it will only be part-time but for the first month or so, fulltime!  I was already obligated to sub at Hunter’s school Monday and Tuesday, so those 2 days will be exhausting while working midnights then teaching all day!!! Then on black Friday I am working 24 hours straight.  First time I have not shopped on black Friday :( ……but I really need the money!!!

On the Saturday (after that wonderful 24)…….we are going to the Fed-ex Froum to see the Rockettes Christmas show.  We have great seats, and we are so excited about going!!!

Thanks for your continued prayers! WOW!!!! 61 days until his last chemo treatment!!! Woohoo!!! Have a great weekend!

October 29, 2009 - Hunter had a good day yesterday @ St Jude! Hia ANC was 1200 which is decent. He got the H1N1 vaccine shot so his arm is a little sore today. Kayla & I got the H1N1 mist a couple of weeks ago in Nashville so hopefully we will be protected!!

Hunter has the lead in the church Christmas musical which will be on 12/2. He’s doing a fantastic job!

Kayla & Hunter’s voice shows (Kincaid-Gooch) will be 12/3 & 12/5. Hunter will be singing a solo for the first time. He’s singing “Winter Wonderland”. Kayla doesn’t want to solo. The shows will be great!! Can’t wait!!

Kayla is busy as ever with basketball, softball & volleyball! However, over the weekend she severely sprained her ankle. Now she is in a boot & out of ball for the next 2 weeks. She is NOT happy!!

09-09-09….won’t get to type that again for a long time!
Hunter has a long day at St Jude today! He’s just been tested for the flu. He has a cough, sore throat, runny nose but only low grade fever! He’s getting a 5 hour chemo today that makes him feel like he has the flu & a possible fever, so he won’t feel good at all for the next few days! Counts are good today with an ANC of 1200!
Kayla is feeling much better….thank goodness!
Thanks for the continued prayers!

Busy Days

August 28 2009 - Hunter has had a fair week. On Tuesday, we found out he had passed the kidney stone on his left side. Great news! Only we were shot back down with a new one showing up on his right side! Its not bothering him yet to much! He is still having back & side pain! His wrist popped in the cast this week when he got a book out of his desk, so it has been bothering him more!

Kayla is keeping us busy! Yesterday after school she had basketball practice, then volleyball practice, then softball practice! Hunter had group & solo voice! We live our lives in the road!!!! This weekend Kayla has a softball tourney in Munford! I never ends!

If you have a chance, please send Hunter a card to St Jude! He loves receiving mail & hasn’t gotten any in awhile. The address is: 262 Danny Thomas, Memphis TN 38105.

Thanks for the continued prayers! Last chemo date is scheduled for 1/20/2010!! Yippee!!!

Another Broken Bone

Comments   1   Date Arrow  August 18, 2009 at 12:35pm   User  by mitzi

August 18, 2009 - sorry it has been so long since I wrote! We have been really busy & the kids have started back to school! They are both loving it & I’m so thankful!

Hunters legs gave out last night on him in Target & he broke his wrist! Bummer! Kayla had to start wearing her back brace again because it hasn’t healed yet!! I got my 3rd Synvisc shot yesterday!! I was awake most of the night in pain! When I took Hunter to get his cast this morning, they looked at my knee! Its 3 times the size of a softball! It has fever in it! I can’t put weight on it & it hurts so bad. They said that I have Psuedosepsis! I’m supposed to keep it elevated, iced & stay off of it for 3-4 days! Can’t do that they because we have St Jude tomorrow & then I’m working Thursday & Friday! We are just going to have to pray that it heals!! Hunter will be in the cast for at least a month! He also still hasn’t passed this kidney stone, so he is in a lot of pain with that!

I will try to do better on updates! Thanks for the continued prayers!
